The first teaser for It Chapter 2 was essentially a cutdown of the infamous Mrs Kersh scene with a few extra bits at the end. However, a full PROPER trailer has now arrived, which does a much better job of building anticipation.
Back in 2017, Andy Muschietti’s elegant take on Stephen King’s classic epic horror emerged as one of the biggest horror movies of all time grossing more than $700 million worldwide. Unlike the book and the beloved 1990 mini-series that starred Tim Curry as Pennywise, the big-screen take on It wasn’t going to mix up the timelines of the young and older versions of the Losers Club. In many ways, this makes perfect sense as It would have been over three hours or hacked to pieces.
Helping to kick start a new wave of Stephen King adaptations, It arrived at the perfect time. Summer was winding down, and Stranger Things 2 was a few weeks away, so a 90s set horror from the master of terror was just what audiences wanted. We are still awaiting word of the much-discussed ‘Extended Cut’ of Chapter One, but I think we’ll have to wait until Chapter Two hits Home Entertainment next year before that happens.
Starring James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean as the grown-ups forced to return to Derry to face Pennywise one final time. Meanwhile, Jaeden Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Wyatt Oleff will all reprise their roles as their younger counterparts (presumably in flashbacks).
It Chapter 2 is released on September 6.
Because every 27 years, evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, It: Chapter Two brings the characters — who’ve long since gone their separate ways — back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film
