We're making a few changes...sorry for the inconvience.

I had no idea that I needed to see Kurt Russell play Santa Claus until I saw the trailer for Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles. While the film looks squarely aimed at youngsters, Russell seems to be having a blast in the role as a more devilishly handsome Father Christmas.

Directed by Clay Kaytis (The Angry Birds Movie), and produced by the legendary Chris Columbus (Mrs Doubtfire, Home Alone), The Christmas Chronicles is hoping to be a firm favourite with families over the holiday season. Plot-wise, a brother and sister attempting to prove the existence of Santa by capturing the jolly fella on camera. Unfortunately, their plan backfires as they mistakenly hitch a ride on Santa’s sleigh causing a crash landing that might detail Christmas for everybody. There is every chance that this will be an entry on this year’s Bad Christmas Movie Challenge, but the trailer does offer some fun for all the family.

Featuring some profoundly unnerving CGI elves, The Christmas Chronicles kicks the festive season off early and touches down on Netflix on November 22nd.

The Christmas Chronicles, a holiday adventure from producer Chris Columbus (“Home Alone”, “Harry Potter”) and director Clay Kaytis (“The Angry Birds Movie”), tells the story of sister and brother, Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa – as you’ve never seen him before – and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it’s too late.
