It seems as though barely a few days go by without somebody telling you that there’s this show on someplace featuring an actor or actress from that thing you used to watch that you have to see. Well, today is one of those days as Hulu just released the first trailer for their forthcoming series The Looming Tower.
Based on Lawrence Wright’s award-winning book The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11, the series examines how the US government (the FBI and CIA specifically) monitored and attempted to deal with the rise of Al-Qaeda in the 90s. Jeff Daniels takes the lead as senior FBI Agent John O’Neil who continually is at odds with the CIA’s Martin Schmidt (Peter Sarsgaard) on how to handle the situation
For more details about the series, here’s the official synopsis;
Divided we fail. The Looming Tower is a new limited series that traces the rising threat of Osama Bin Laden and how the rivalry between the FBI and CIA may have inadvertently set a path for the tragedy of 9/11. Based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning book, The Looming Tower traces the rising threat of Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in the late 1990s and how the rivalry between the FBI and CIA during that time may have inadvertently set the path for the tragedy of 9/11. The series follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Washington, D.C., the counter-terrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA, respectively, as they travel the world fighting for ownership of information while seemingly working toward the same goal – trying to prevent an imminent attack on U.S. soil.
