Vardan Tozija, the acclaimed Macedonian filmmaker behind Amok, returns with M: Beyond the Wasteland, a haunting and deeply human post-apocalyptic fable about innocence, isolation, and the fragile spark of hope that refuses to die.
Following an acclaimed festival run, including a celebrated screening at Grimmfest 2024, this award-winning sci-fi odyssey will make its UK digital debut on November 10, courtesy of GrimmVision.
Set in the aftermath of a world consumed by plague and overrun by the undead, known here as the Evil Ones, the film follows Marko (Matej Sivakov), a young boy living deep in the forest, watched over by his secretive, fiercely protective father (Sasko Kocev). His life of solitude takes an unexpected turn when he befriends Miko (Aleksandar Nichovski), a warm-hearted boy with Down syndrome, whose kindness pierces the desolate silence. Through their bond, Marko begins to dream of what lies beyond the wilderness — and what might still remain of humanity.
But when fate pushes him out into the world, Marko’s journey becomes a dangerous search for truth amid the ruins — one that challenges everything he’s been taught to fear.
Bleak, beautiful, and brimming with quiet emotion, M: Beyond the Wasteland transforms the zombie apocalypse into something far more profound, a story of connection and courage when all else seems lost. It’s a reminder that even in the coldest corners of the end of the world, compassion endures.
M: Beyond the Wasteland arrives on digital November 10 from GrimmVision.
