Prepare to feel Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as the first full trailer for Mary Poppins Returns has landed.
When I first heard that Disney was making a sequel to the classic Mary Poppins, like many others, I thought this is a terrible idea. Then, Emily Blunt was announced as stepping into the shoes of Julie Andrews, and the entire endeavour started to look like it could be a winner.
Well, if you remained undecided on the new Mary Poppins, this first trailer is finally here to bring our lives some much-needed magic in these dark times.
Joining Emily Blunt for the sequel are Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Joel Dawson, Nathanael Saleh, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, with Angela Lansbury, and living legend Dick Van Dyke. Now that’s one heck of a cast. Fun fact, as this is considered a sequel opposed to a reboot, Mary Poppins Returns has the record of longest gap between sequels at a whopping 54 years. Take that Tron Legacy!
Mary Poppins Returns swoops into UK cinemas on December 18.
In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.
