If I were to tell you that there is a TV series on the way that has Steve Buscemi starring as God and Daniel Radcliffe as an Angel working in the offices of Heaven Inc, what would your reaction be? Well, the good news is that wasn’t a random hypothesis but the introduction to the trailer for a new limited series called Miracle Workers.

The above thirty-second teaser might be short in length, but what it lacks in footage it makes up for with a sinfully cheeky tone. For a bit more about the premise, here’s the hot off the press synopsis;

A comedy set in the offices of Heaven Inc. When God plans to destroy the Earth, two low-level angels must convince their boss to save humanity. They bet him they can pull off their most impossible miracle yet: help two humans fall in love.

Many of you will be too young to remember, but the basic set-up isn’t that dissimilar to Danny Boyle’s underrated romantic comedy A Life Less Ordinary. In the 1997 film that starred Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz, two angels (Delroy Lindo & Holly Hunter) must ensure that two strangers fall and stay in love or face eternity banished to Earth. It might have been less edge of your seat as Shallow Grave, or as nightmare inducing as Trainspotting, but A Life Less Ordinary is a sweet-hearted fluffy kitten of a movie.

Created by Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman), and produced by Saturday Night Legend Lorne Michaels, Miracle Workers also stars Geraldine Viswanathan, Jon Bass, Karan Soni, Sasha Compère, and Lolly Adefope. The series will launch in the US on TBS on February 12, 2019. At the time of writing, there are no details on a UK broadcast.
