Murder Mystery Monday: Signora Volpe Series 2 (Spoiler Free)

Murder Mystery Monday

Continuing our tour of sun-soaked sleuths, the excellent Signora Volpe returns to Acorn TV with another beautifully crafted mix of mystery, charm, and a touch of spy flair—served al fresco under the Umbrian sun.

Emilia Fox reprises her role as Sylvia Fox, the ever-composed ex-MI6 agent who’s swapped classified files and cold intel for village gossip and vineyard sunsets. But as always, trouble has a way of finding her—even when she’s just trying to enjoy a quiet life with good wine and better scenery.

Series 2 brings a fresh slate of enigmas to unravel, each steeped in the kind of local colour that makes you believe every charming Italian hamlet hides a web of secrets behind its ivy-covered walls. Sylvia remains as sharp as ever, navigating suspicious deaths, long-buried feuds, and some frankly excellent tailoring—all while keeping one foot in the past and the other firmly planted in her adopted home.

Returning cast members, including the reliably grounded Captain Riva (Giovanni Cirfiera), help flesh out a world that feels lived-in and gently addictive. The chemistry between Sylvia and Giovanni continues to simmer—not quite a raging fire, but definitely enough heat to keep you watching.

And then, of course, there’s the scenery. If you’re not Googling “houses for sale in Umbria” by episode two, you might want to check your pulse. With golden landscapes, crumbling stone villages, and a wine bar around every corner, Signora Volpe makes rural Italy look not just idyllic but downright irresistible—even with the occasional murder.

The second series definitely deepens the emotional threads and adds a few unexpected turns to Sylvia’s story without ever losing the show’s easy elegance. It’s part whodunnit, part reinvention tale, and 100% a treat for viewers who like their mysteries with a side of espresso and a slow, satisfying burn.

Come for the countryside, stay for the crime-solving. Sylvia Fox is back—and this time, she’s even more at home in the chaos.
