We might have a bit of a wait ahead before Top Gun Maverick finally touches down in cinemas, but to keep us interested, Paramount has released a new poster. Originally scheduled for a July 2019 release, Paramount wisely didn’t want to rush the highly anticipated sequel, so they pushed the date by an entire year. The first trailer teaser some of the spectacular aerial sequences we can expect.
Plot-wise, we still don’t know a great deal beyond Cruise risking life and limb in the name of entertainment. Speaking at this year, Comic-Con in San Diego, Cruise promised fans that the sequel would live up to expectations.
“Top Gun is about family, about sacrifice, and it’s about aviation. 34 years ago I made a movie in San Diego, right here. I actually shot across the street in a restaurant. You all have asked for many, many years and I’ve traveled across the world and people have asked when are you going to do another one. I felt it was my responsibility to finally deliver for you.”
Reuniting with his Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski, the cast includes Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Glen Powell, Manny Jacinto, Jay Ellis, and Val Kilmer. We should be seeing a new trailer soon, but before that, you’ll have to make do with the new poster.
Top Gun Maverick will be released on June 26, 2020.
