Happy Earth day humans!
A brand new trailer for the belated sequel to Independence Day has arrived, it might be the nostalgia talking, but this actually looks like it could be a lot of fun. 20 years after the original attack those nasty intergalactic aliens are up to their old tricks and are back for a second attempt.
The bad news is that this time we don’t have the charms of Will Smith as Captain Steven Hiller to fend them off. The good news is that we do have Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson back, and he’s all kinds of awesome. Other original cast members joining Jeff Goldblum include Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner (who totally didn’t die in the first movie, apparently) and Judd Hirsch. The next generation of heroes are young whippersnappers Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest), and Jessie Usher as Hiller’s son Dylan.
Independence Day: Resurgence arrives in UK cinemas on June 24.
As today is Earth Day, 20th Century Fox also release the following Public Service Announcement from David Levinson so listen up peeps.
We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
