One of television’s most comforting trips back to the Yorkshire Dales is on its way home, as All Creatures Great & Small Series 7 arrives on DVD from November 30, courtesy of Acorn Media International.

Following its premiere on 5, the new series returns to 1946 Yorkshire, where life at Skeldale House is moving into a hopeful new chapter after the end of World War II. Familiar faces are back under one roof, but change is very much in the air for James, Helen, Siegfried, Tristan, Mrs Hall, and the rest of Darrowby.

Based on the much-loved books and life of veterinary surgeon and writer James Herriot, aka James Alfred Wight OBE, All Creatures Great & Small has become one of the UK’s best-loved dramas, winning audiences over with its warmth, humour, and old-fashioned sense of community.

Series 7 sees James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) looking towards new developments in veterinary medicine, while the arrival of rival vet Granville Bennett (Caolan McCarthy) threatens to shake up the local order. His flashy red sports car and modern approach do not go unnoticed, especially by Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse), who finds himself grudgingly impressed.

Elsewhere, Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley) continues to navigate her feelings around Siegfried (Samuel West) and Dorothy’s (Maimie McCoy) deepening relationship, while Tristan’s romance with Charlotte (Gaia Wise) faces uncertainty. James and Helen’s (Rachel Shenton) eldest child, Jimmy, also starts school, giving Helen space to think about the future of the farm.

Packed with gentle drama, familiar faces, and more heartwarming stories of humans and animals alike, All Creatures Great & Small Series 7 looks set to be another cosy favourite for the festive season. The DVD release also includes last year’s Christmas Special, Comfort and Joy, making it a fitting gift for fans of the series.

With an eighth series already confirmed, there is plenty more Darrowby warmth still to come.
