BLUEBEARD is not exactly the Richard Burton film people tend to bring up first, which is part of the fun. This strange, lavish, X-rated comedy thriller has spent years sitting in the more curious corners of cult cinema, but STUDIOCANAL is finally giving it the kind of release that makes a rediscovery feel properly tempting.

Arriving on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and Digital from September 28, BLUEBEARD makes its worldwide UHD debut as part of the STUDIOCANAL Cult Classics range. The new edition comes with a 4K restoration, new extras, a 12-page booklet, and new artwork from Thomas Hodge, better known as The Dude Designs.

Burton stars as Kurt Von Sepper, a blue-bearded Austrian aristocrat whose charm hides a rather grisly habit of marrying, murdering, and preserving his wives. His latest spouse, Anne, discovers the truth when she enters the one room he has forbidden her from opening, and finds a vault filled with the frozen bodies of the women who came before her.

Directed by Edward Dmytryk and produced by Alexander and Ilya Salkind, BLUEBEARD is stacked with cult appeal. The cast includes Raquel Welch, Nathalie Delon, Virna Lisi, Marilù Tolo, Karin Schubert, Agostina Belli, Sybil Danning, and Joey Heatherton, with a score by Ennio Morricone.

Camp, lurid, glamorous, and more than a little ridiculous, BLUEBEARD sounds exactly like the sort of Cult Classics title worth making space for on the shelf.
