“From the studio that brought you Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin, and The Ling King, twice” comes Free Guy. Set-up and filmed when 20th Century Fox was still making movies, Free Guy will be distributed by Disney and the opening zinger above gives us a good idea what to expect from Free Guy.

As far as high-concept movies go, Free Guy is up there. Reynolds plays Guy, a non-playable background character in a vast open-world game. However, one day, Guy has his eyes opened to the truth and is determined to become a hero. Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Stranger Things), Free Guy looks like it could go either way. The trailer sure does look fun with Reynolds doing what Reynolds does while looking handsome. There are some Ready Player One Vibes (which is no bad thing), and now that Disney owns the movie, we could see lots more easter eggs scattered throughout the film. Ryan Reynolds fans only have days to wait to see him in another big action movie, next week sees Michael Bay’s Six Underground arrive on Netflix.

Also starring Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Taika Waititi, Free Guy will be landing in cinemas June 3.
