Gunpowder, Treason and Plot…

UK indie Shogun Films has released a chilling teaser for its upcoming supernatural thriller Guy Fawkes: Blood & Fire, reimagining the infamous historical figure as a towering new icon of horror. Directed by Benjamin David and currently in production, the film stars Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott, Charlie Woodward (grandson of Edward Woodward), Jonathan Oliver, Tony Sands, Pierse Stevens, Paul Preston, with Paul Terry taking on the role of Guy Fawkes. The screenplay is by Dominic Philpot, with Ross Yeandle serving as director of photography.

In the story, an ancient mask unearthed during a construction-site excavation sets off a series of deaths by spontaneous combustion. An insurance investigator teams up with a psychic medium to uncover a centuries-old prophecy—and stop the spirit of Guy Fawkes from opening a gateway to hell and tearing apart the fabric of time itself.

Producer Jonathan Sothcott commented:

“Guy Fawkes: Blood & Fire continues our commitment to creating ambitious, original, ‘instant cult’ genre films with the finest British talent. This isn’t your typical slasher—it’s a clever, Dan Brown-style thriller with a supernatural twist, tapping into our deep-seated fears of spontaneous combustion and rich Omen-inspired folklore. With Ben David at the helm, our exceptional cast and creative team are crafting something truly unique. I’m thrilled to bring Guy Fawkes to the big screen and can’t wait to see him light up cinemas—quite literally.”

To support the release, Shogun Films is also planning a limited comic book series and a novelisation, offering fans multiple ways to dive deeper into the terrifying legend. Guy Fawkes: Blood & Fire is set for release in early 2026 from Trinity Content.
