I’ll be honest with you internet; I didn’t really get much out of the first teaser for Terminator Dark Fate (AKA Terminator 3: Terminator 6. It was great to see Linda Hamilton back as Sarah Conner, I was confused by the brief shot of Arnie as the T-800, but ultimately it didn’t leave much of an impact. However. as we get closer to the movie arriving in cinemas, a new trailer has landed, and it’s pretty darn good.
Based on a story by James Cameron (who also returns to the franchise as a Producer), Dark Fate is directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) with a story that ignores the events of the last three sequels. In essence, Dark Fate is a direct sequel to T2: Judgement Day with the story taking place 27 years after the T-800 made people cry with a thumbs-up. After Rise of the Machines, I told myself I was done with this franchise yet I still went to see Salvation and the other one. I even watched The Sarah Conner Chronicles, both seasons. While I firmly believe that as a franchise, Terminator should have called it a day after the second one, it deserves a decent send-off, and maybe Dark Fate will offer fans an R-rated trilogy closer. We can just pretend that parts 3-5 were a fever dream. If you need a little more explaining, check out our handy guide to how the new film fits into the Terminator timeline.
The sad reality is, regardless of how Dark Fate turns out, Hollywood is far from done with Terminator. Also starring Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, Diego Boneta, and a de-aged Edward Furlong as John Connor. Terminator Dark Fate is released on November 1st.
Linda Hamilton (“Sarah Connor”) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (“T-800”) return in their iconic roles in Terminator: Dark Fate, directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and produced by visionary filmmaker James Cameron and David Ellison. Following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminator: Dark Fate also stars Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta.
