The first full trailer for the long-awaited remake of one of Stephen King’s most celebrated books has arrived, The Stand. Featuring an impressive enemble cast that includes Whoopi Goldberg, James Marsden, Greg Kinnear, Amber Heard, Heather Graham, Jovan Adepo, Odessa Young, and Alexander Skarsgård as Randall Flagg.
“The Stand” is King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård), the Dark Man.”
Fans of King’s work will be familiar with Flagg as different incarnations of the character has appeared in numerous books. Technically, Matthew McConaughey played the alter-ego of Flagg in The Dark Tower. The previous TV mini-series featured Jamey Sheridan in the role, and perhaps the most terrifying thing about his portrayal was the fact he was wearing Tripple denim, jeans, shirt, jacket, the horror! The Stand has long been overdue a remake, and over the years it had almost become a two-part movie before the series landed at CBS All Access. There is no word yet on where The Stand will be available in the UK, but the series starts its ten-episode weekly run on December 17. Check out the new trailer below.
