The following article contains spoilers for Avengers Endgame.
Thor 4 is officially a go with mad genius Taika Waititi returning to write and direct after making the best Thor movie to date with Ragnarok, . News of an unprecedented fourth solo adventure for any of the Marvel heroes isn’t a massive shock as both Chris Hemsworth and Waititi have expressed interest in continuing with the franchise.
Towards the close of Endgame, it appeared as though the Guardians of Galaxy had adopted another member with Thor hitching a lift. At the time, it was believed that this was a clear indication that Hemsworth would be a significant factor in Guardians Vol.3. The announcement of a fourth Thor does cast some doubt over how big a role Hemsworth will have in Vol.3, but I think it is a given that Thor will be making an appearance of some kind. After all, Hemsworth did renew his contract with Marvel for an unspecified number of movie that take him well beyond Endgame.
Taika Waititi might be best known for his quirky comedies What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople, but he proved to be a perfect collaborator on a big-budget tentpole. Thor Ragnarok, is easily one of the best Marvel movies to date, it completely shakes things up and leans into Hemsworth sorely underused comedic talents. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for Thor, and please tell me that Korg is in the mix.
