Wonder Woman 1984 has already seen its fair share of delays, initially set for release in December 2019, the sequel was pushed to summer 2020, and then the world changed with a pandemic. Warner Bros had pushed the date a few times, but as we continue to face an uncertain road ahead, Wonder Woman 1984 will launch in cinemas (that can safely open) and HBO Max on Christmas Day. Naturally, that’s for the US, in the UK, the movie is still slated for launch on December 16. However, that will depend on what the situation is when the UK comes out of its second national lockdown on December 2.

Here’s what Warner Bros’ Ann Sarnoff had to say in a statement;

“As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans. This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community; we will provide that option to consumers in the US where theatres are open. We realise that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform.”

In all likelihood, Wonder Woman 1984 will follow Mulan, The Witches, Bill & Ted, and many more that opted for premium VOD releases. We’ll keep you posted on the latest updates.
