An ancient mutant rises from the ashes to take vengeance against shoulder pads and electro pop music. That’s right kids, the first trailer for Bryan Singer’s conclusion to the prequel trilogy with the suitably titled X-Men Apocalypse.
Set in the 1980s, the follow-up to Days of Future Past finds our favourite mutants in very different places to where we left them. Facing an uncertain(ish) future, Xavier (James McAvoy) and his merry band of mutants face off against an ancient force known as Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac). At this time, the X-Men future remains unknown as most of the cast were only signed up for three pictures. However, there’s been plenty of talk of New Mutants and X-Force being high on Fox’s list, but there is also the small matter of Deadpool which could see a bunch of new R-rated superhero movies coming our way,
Also starring Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till and maybe a cameo from Hugh Jackman. X-Men: Apocalypse arrives on May 19, 2016.
Since the dawn of civilization, Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant, was worshiped as a god. Amassing the powers of many other mutants, he became immortal and invincible. When Apocalypse awakens after several millennia, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it, and recruits a team of mutants to cleanse humanity and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven with the help of Charles Xavier must lead a team of young X-Men to save humanity.
