Assassin’s Creed

Assassin's creedI mentioned it a few weeks ago but details are now firming up for the Assassin’s Creed Movie. The film is being developed by Ubisoft’s newly formed creative company and they have found a partner in Sony to help make the project. Expect more video game adaptations to be coming from Ubisoft as Splinter Cell, Infamous and Uncharted are all on the horizon.

Whilst it doesn’t change my opinion on video game adaptions on the whole, It does appear that Ubisoft are wanting to translate the quality of their games to the big screen. They have the creative talent to put together stunning games with rich stories so their involvement in the project does offer some hope for a better film. I would say that with a story as complex as Assassins Creed it would lend itself to an HBO/Showtime series quite nicely, food for thought. They have dabbled with a mini series before in 2009, it was made as a prequel to the Assassins Creed 2 game.

The final part of the game series is out this November and I’m sure there will be further developments in the movie before then. If you haven’t seen the mini series, the good people at assassinscreedUK have posted to entire 30 minute movie on their youtube channel and it’s worth a look if you’re a fan of the game. Considering the budget they had it’s quite impressive.
